Joyce Fritz is the artist behind Yipes! bug pins and one of our favorite artists at Clay Coyote Gallery. She lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin and has been making her 'bugs' since 1993. Her designs are handmade polymer clay using "millefiori" - an ancient glassworking technique, adapted to modern materials. Sheets and coils of clay are stacked together and compressed into a loaf. Cross-section slices of the loaf are used as design elements, along with metallic leaf, glitter, recycled wire, and glass beads. You may not be a fan of live bugs but you can't help but love Joyce's versions of them!
