Bruce Johnson Clay Studio was founded in 1993. Bruce expresses himself with American Style Raku, a process full of spontaneity that combines fire, clay and air. "Copper Flash" Raku is created by applying a copper matte glaze to the bisque-fired clay. Each piece is returned to the kiln until proper temperature is reached, then is removed with tongs and submerged in a container filled with sawdust and shredded paper. These materials ignite and the flames react with the glazes and produce the fabulous colors on Bruce's pots. No two Raku pots will ever be alike!
